What is a screw pump?
A progressive cavity pump is a positive displacement pump that uses one or more screws to move fluids or solids along the screw axis. It is a single screw rotating in a cylindrical cavity, so that the material moves along the main axis of the screw.


A progressive cavity pump is a positive displacement pump that uses one or more screws to move fluid or solid material along the screw axis. There are single-screw pumps, twin-screw pumps, three-screw pumps, and five-screw pumps. For the drilling mud process, we use progressive cavity pumps to transport the drilling fluid from desilter tanks or centrifuge tanks to decanter centrifuges

The screw pump rotates and conveys the drilling fluid through the screw conveyor. The central screw is positive, and the screw conveyors on both sides are negative. The direction of rotation of the negative pole is opposite to that of the positive pole.

 

In fact, when the screw conveyor rotates, the lower V-chamber becomes larger. The V chamber will close to prevent fluid from being aspirated. Closed rooms will advance along the axis. A new suction chamber is then created at the suction end. As the closed cavities move forward, the fluid is forced out.

 

Compared with other pumps, screw conveyors are less prone to eddy currents. This goes a long way in maintaining pump capacity. It is not sensitive to viscosity and can transport high viscosity materials.
