This is a screen for those who want to modify their brew kettles to avoid clogging when draining frozen wort. The long screen provides enough surface area to allow liquid intake even after some hops have stuck to it (unlike the small screen above the outlet hole, where even small amounts of hop material can quickly clog).

The screen resists the squeeze from the output pressure, which would squeeze the tube and render most of its length useless. In other words, when there is hops sticking to the screen near the exit point, the tube will remain open and allow the screen to continue to gradually suck in liquid from below the tube.
