They are solid, not hollow! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Aucoumea klaineana is a tree in the Gesneriaceae family, native to Gabon, the Republic of the Congo and Rio Muni in equatorial West Africa. It is a large broad-leaved tree that grows to a height of 30-40 m, rarely becoming larger, with a trunk diameter of 1.0-2.5 m above the often large basal buttresses. The tree often grows in small forests where the roots interweave with neighboring trees. In Gabon it is the main wood species. Its attractive appearance means it is often used as top veneer for paneling and furniture, or in solid form for luxury items such as wooden steering wheels or other high value items (eg audio equipment, cigar boxes).
