BTA and jet drill
AG Carbide (DrillStar) manufactures a wide range of BTA single tube and ejector twin tube deep hole drills from Ø7.76 mm to Ø500 mm, as well as larger special application tools.
BTA drills are used in special purpose machinery where coolant is introduced through the pressure head and chips are expelled through the center of the drill and the drill tube. Pipe dampers are used to support the drill pipe and prevent vibration and deformation of the pipe, and work supports support the workpiece if required.
Jet drills are used on conventional and CNC type machines. They use a deflector to route coolant between the inner and outer dual tube system, with chips exiting through the center of the inner tube. With CNC machines now using high pressure coolants, Botek is able to provide an alternative to injection systems.
Solid drills with brazed carbide inserts are available in diameters from Ø7.76 mm to Ø65 mm. These heads can be reground and retilted/recoated, but are considered consumables and therefore have a limited lifespan.
Indexable plunger drills are available in diameters from Ø15mm and up, allowing quick insert changes and cutting diameter adjustments on drills from Ø25mm and up.
Counterbore heads with indexable inserts are available from Ø28.5mm upwards and allow larger size holes to be drilled after solid drilling. Because they use less power than solid drills, larger diameters can be produced on machines with limited power.
Nesting heads are available in a minimum diameter of Ø55mm and produce reusable cores, saving material costs.
