What is Hydroseeding?

Hydroseeding is a sprayed water-based mixture of grass seeds, wood fiber and fertilizer. It is often used to grow grass on steep slopes to help prevent erosion. The process of hydroseeding involves mixing together fibrous mulch, fertilizer, water, seeds, and sometimes lime in a tank and applying it directly to the prepared ground using a spray hose. Once the lawn area is thoroughly sprayed, the moist fibrous mulch bonds with the soil and provides a water retention layer for the seeds to protect them from the sun, erosion and wind. Once the seeds start to germinate, the fibrous mulch gradually breaks down, providing nutrients to the soil.
